Many of us have our hearts and minds turned toward doing something different to have better results than where we are right now. We have thoughts of realizing our dreams and goals in life. In order to reach your goals, you have to have a burning desire. It can’t be just a wish it has to be a burning desire. A desire that consumes your thoughts from the moment you wake up until the moment that you go to sleep at night. You must also have a willingness to do whatever it takes until you reach your goal. We need to take the necessary steps to fulfill our dreams. So what about attaching what you see in your mind into pictures and then placing them on a dream board. I suggest cutting out pictures from magazines and placing them on a board that fit the categories of what you want to see come to pass in your life related to family, career, ministry, business, school, marriage, children etc… What we focus on we tend to empower. I have done this not only for myself but for my children as well to give them hope for their future. I encourage you to try this because it works.
We talked about how to set goals to make them stick https://mindshapeup.com/time-set-goals-stick-5-quick-steps-getting-started so let’s take it a step further with having a visual display of our goals to view everyday:
1. When you are dreaming be super clear and detailed in what you want. Imagine yourself in that successful space. Dream about your goal, what does it feel like to be smoke-free, what does it feel like to be wearing those jeans without having to lay down on the bed to put them on, what does it feel like to be medication-free? When you dream about it, you apply emotion…you attach your why to your goal…. Another suggestion is to place visual pictures of what you are dreaming about on your fridge, mirror, or car dashboard as reminders of what you want to see happen in your life. You are viewing your board everyday and speaking aloud what you want to SEE happen in your life for yourself and the lives that you will impact for good.
2. Next you need to write down your goal. When writing down your goal, you must also write down what you are willing to give or sacrifice to achieve that goal. You have to be willing to give up the cigarettes to quit smoking, give up the brownies to lose weight and give up the TV time to write a book. Make a commitment to realize your dream no matter how long it takes. Use a schedule so that you can break the goals down into daily, weekly, and monthly “action steps.”
3. Now you need to go build it. As you take the action steps to walk out your dream one day at a time watch how the ideas, resources, and people will become attached to what you are doing. As an added bonus it is also helpful to have a partner that you can check in with to be accountable. For example if you have a goal to lose weight and increase your fitness/ nutrition then find a weight loss group. Get a buddy/partner who will hold you accountable to your goals.
Pray with unwavering faith and belief that you will achieve what you set out to achieve, no matter the “NO’s”; If you don’t have that belief, the first time someone tells you ‘you’re nuts’, ‘you’re crazy’, ‘that can’t happen’, you will head for the hills with your tail tucked between your legs. Then you will justify not achieving your goal. There is NO ROOM for justification where success is concerned. Justification and excuses are not part of our secret sauces for success. DREAM IT! WRITE IT! BUILD IT! And, remember, there is no take without a willingness to give. You can’t have the mindset that you will give it 3 months or 9 months or 1 year. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes, however long it takes, until you reach your destination.
Jesus answered them, “I tell all of you with certainty, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you be able to do what has been done to the fig tree, but you will also say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. (Matthew 21:21)
Before you know it you will have realized your goal in 6 months or sooner! You can do this!
